Yankee Candle Rainbow Cookie - Review

Hey guys!

Welcome back to Tea, books and candles (can I say it? even if I am just at the second review and I am not sure any other human being is actually reading it? well...let's say I can).

Another Yankee Candle review, but today we are talking about Rainbow Cookie from the new collection Enjoy the simple things.

The collection has been recently released and includes other three fragrances: Sweet Nothing, A Calm And Quiet Place and Sun Drenched Apricot Rose.

I have just bought a wax melt for each of these scents (details on the purchase at the end of the post) and I am really looking forward to trying them all (the first "sniff" has brought great expectations and, come on, the colours are just amazing!)

Anyhow, so far I just tried the most sugary one: Rainbow Cookie.

According to Yankee Candle:

"Cookies so light and airy they' re ready to melt in your mouth - filled with citrus and peach and sweet vanilla frosting.
Top notes: sweet orange, and creamy peach
Middle notes: passion fruit, and buttercream
Base notes: vanilla frosting, and coconut"

Let's start saying that I am always a little bit afraid when it comes to sweet fragrances and, just looking at the label I though about booking a dentist appointment (just in case). But looking at those cute and tempting cookies, the fluffiest side of me couldn't help itself - even if still a little bit biased.

Instead...yes, this a sweet fragrance (no doubts - wouldn't be recommended by your dentist...) but not in a sickening way at all.

You can't really feel a cookie fragrance per se (which in fact, on reflection, doesn't completely match the fragrance notes) but it is more of a frosting sugar scent (with a hint of vanilla) blended with some sweet sweet fruit notes which recall the spring/summer fruits (like when you finally leave the uncontested kingdom of tangerines and apples and you can enjoy the juicy pulp of new season's fruits). In particular, I found the peach sent the most recognisable.

For the first burn I used half wax melt and the result was really good: the scent spread out well and wrapped the air up. In my mind I was in a beautiful - slightly shabby chic - tea room, enjoying some fragrant frosted cookies with the sunlight coming through the windows.

This is a fragrance that cheers you up and gives you a nice sense of sweetness and tenderness: like a pink exclamation mark that comes after "I light you!".

Let me know if you have tried Rainbow Cookie or other scents of the collection and your thoughts on them!

Cheers

P.S. I have bought the wax melts on the UK website Temptation Gift. If you are in the UK or in countries where the delivery costs can be reasonable and want to take a peek I have just received the latest newsletter promoting a 25% discount on the new spring collection (all size).
