Kusmi Tea Kashmir Tchai - Review

Hey guys!

First tea review, so I wanted to start with one of my favourite blends ever: Kashmir Tchai of Kusmi Tea.

French maison de thé with Russian origins, Kusmi has a 150 years long history which started in Saint Petersburg with the establishment, in 1867, of P. M. Kousmichoff tea house.

I have always loved teas and everything related, but discovering Kusmi Tea (during a brief holiday in Paris in 2015) has made the difference! Unfortunately for my pocket, Kusmi Tea offers a really wide range of  blends (70 among teas and herbal teas) to suit all tastes.

Being a fan of spiced teas, one of the first blends I had a moral duty wanted to try was Kashmir Tchai. In particular, I bought the 125g metal tin (for further info on sizes and prices please refer to the Kusmi Tea website - this is the link to the international site but they also have a lot of country specific websites).

Kashmir Tchai is one of Kusmi's oldest blends, a mix of Chinese black teas and spices, prepared on the basis of a traditional Nepalese recipe. Traditionally served with milk and sugar, for the digestive properties of its spices is the perfect choice to accompany a light lunch. I like to drink it just after lunch/dinner or during the afternoon, for a break with a strong personality. Intense and spiced (but still, the black tea can be clearly perceived) it will be the lead character of your tea time, summoning atmospheres of ancient Asian caravans travelling through mountains, where a hot spiced beverage is the perfect match for the starry sky.

By the way: never been in Nepal but this is the way I think it would feel!

The detailed ingredients are kept secret but I recognise clove and cardamom and, maybe, also anise and cinnamon, but there is much more in there! Feel free to sniff around and guess the spices used for this blend!

Recommended brewing time and temperature are 3-4 minutes at 85/90° (185-195°F).

Since appearances count too, my last note will be on the packaging, which is absolutely amazing! The tins are so nice that are basically a piece of furniture, adding a refined touch to your kitchen. Also, you can re-use them as you like, not just for tea (in fact, the refill bag is cheaper than the metal tin) but for buttons, Yankee Candle wax melts, candies, and whatever you can think of. Being a huge sucker for boxes & co., definitely a big plus for me!

Let me know in the comments if you liked the review, if you tried any Kusmi Tea products and what you think of them! And if you have Kashmir Tchai at home...just put your nose in it and let me know which spices you can find!

Cheers
Francesca
